My mother is sending me home with some fabric she'd like me to sell. I'll post a more detailed list later, but as a teaser for now... The stack includes:

3 Saris. 2 are red with white-gold/silvery-gold embroidery. These 2 are heavy & include the fabric to make a matching chole. Please excuse my horrible spelling.

Blue silk dupione, I think ~6 yards. Lovely color!

With all the foo flying around, I could really use some positives right now. And am asking myself, why do I show up at events?

1. I like to sew.
2. I like garb.
3. I enjoy C&I.
4. Friends, although the quality time seems better outside of events vs. at events. Too many distractions maybe?

So last night, my dog comes walking up to me with her toy. It is a plush ring (supposedly a 9 on the scale of durability, but she had no problem putting a hole in it w/in 24 hrs or acquiring said toy). Anyway, she come walking up to me, but she's holding the bottom side of the ring & the top side is looped up over her nose & is blocking her eyes. She has basically blindfolded herself & is walking around, really slowly so as not to run into a wall! LOL, and the funniest part, was that she didn't change it, she just kept walking around with her eyes covered! She's such a dork!

I could survive for 1 minute, 22 seconds chained to a bunk bed with a velociraptor

I've been doing some thinking and have realized that there are several areas of the "arts" that I enjoy, and really want/need to become more knowledgeable. I've already taken steps in one of them, but as for the other 2, I'm not totally sure where to start. So, I've decided to start with the step of resource materials! I tend to use the Internet right now, but I really want & need a reference library. I want to obtain some good resources, basic and more in-depth, for 16th century Italian clothing, and period embroidery, I personally enjoy early period Norse, and anything on later period stuff that goes with Italian would be great also.

Oh wonderful world of LJ, and fabulous friends, what resources do you highly recommend?
What are basics you wouldn't want to live without?
What are more advanced to detailed sources that are very valuable?
Are there art books you recommend for portraits?
Are there web pages you use a great deal?

Worked a little on my sleeves last night. I've been putting off making more of the cording, but I need to tackle that tonight. I have 2 stripes left to put together once I make the cording for them. I started putting the strips together into actual sleeves, and this morning I've decided to save that for Saturday at the event, I can hand sew there. I'm trying to organize my sewing to maximize my time.
